CHOOSING IPR AFTER ENGINEERING

I am sharing my own experience that I faced after my graduation. I graduated with a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, but I was unable to find work in the core. I struggled a lot and eventually found a job that was not a good fit for my skills. But still, I have joined it to gain some experience as unemployment is a big problem everywhere. Everyone claims that freshmen are having difficulty finding work and that everyone else is only hiring professionals. And then, after so many struggles, time flew away, I was not satisfied with my job. Out of 1.5 million engineering students, 70% are jobless. The IT firms also hire graduates, but most of them are unemployed. Everyone is confused and tense about where to go. Then, one of my friends told me about the scope of IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) jobs in the market.

Intellectual Property (IP) is a recession-proof career [1] as creators and inventors do their creations and inventions, which always need IP analysts to protect their ideas and inventions from being stolen or copied.

I have seen lots of students are confused about choosing their career after engineering as they are not getting jobs in their core area as per the degrees. While working in IPR, any student can work in the core area. I understand that intellectual property rights fall under the purview of legal practice, but a law degree is not required for it. You must have strong technical knowledge and good research skills [2]. People are not aware of or have heard much about IPR during their graduate program, so competition is lower here than in other IT or non-technical firms. But you can learn about it and gain knowledge within a few months of training via any IPR course or through any company during its probation period, and start your career ahead accordingly. Freshers can easily apply and get a job with a handsome salary package. Without wasting a lot of time and money, you will grow easily and globally as compared to the IT firms where growth is very slow. Renowned firms like IBM, Adobe, Honeywell, WIPRO, Infosys, Dell, HP, Apple, Samsung, etc. file patents every month. So, to protect their inventions from being stolen, they hire Patent Analysts or Patent Engineers. Candidates for IP positions can come from a variety of industries, including biotechnology, pharmacy, microbiology, bioinformatics, life sciences, electronics, computer science, information technology, and mechanical. So, this industry will provide jobs for any domain. I hope this article helps many graduates make a decision about a career in their field of study.
