Independence Day 2021: 5 Creative Ideas of Celebration

First and foremost, I wish every Indian a very Happy Independence Day. On August 15, 2021, India will celebrate its 75th anniversary of independence. After nearly 200 years of British rule, India got independence on August 15, 1947. India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, hoisted the Indian National Flag above the Red Fort in Delhi on August 15, 1947. Independence Day is commemorated to honor the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters in the fight to free India from British rule. Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Bhagat Singh, Rani Laxmi Bai, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Subhas Chandra Bose, etc., are some of the freedom warriors who contributed to India's freedom movement.

On this Sunday, i.e. August 15, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the country from the Red Fort, Delhi. But due to the COVID-19 and the high alert of terrorists, Lashkar and Jaish plan major attacks on Delhi, so celebrations are taking place with a restricted number of people. Also, there will be no cultural performances performed by the children. On this day, Indians celebrate their patriotism by making Indian flags on their cheeks, putting the national flag on their homes and automobiles, as well as listening to patriotic songs, and watching patriotic films.

Independence Day is celebrated by all schools and colleges every year. During my school days, the programme began with the school principal hoisting the flag, followed by a March past performed by students at the school. The flag that is flown on the day of independence was made entirely by students. A flag-making competition was held at school, and the best student won the prize. The winning flag was then showcased on the school notice board. The head of the school gave a two-minute speech to the teachers and students, after the completion of flag hoisting and the march past.

Students then performed dancing and cultural activities. Following that, the prize distribution took place. The head of the school acknowledged the toppers and winners of extra-curricular. The programme ended with singing the National Anthem together. Teachers distributed sweets to all the kids before we returned to our homes.

Schools are open this year, but only for teachers. As a result, schools are hosting virtual activities such as fancy dress competitions and cultural events. Flag-hoisting ceremonies will most likely take place in schools and colleges, but only with teachers and authorities.

5 Creative ways of celebrating Independence Day:
  1. We can dress up in Tiranga colors to show our ethnic freedom and patriotism.
  2. We can enjoy the Tricolor cuisine. We can also celebrate India by eating Indian foods such as Indian Chaat, Dhaba recipes, Desi sweets, and so on.
  3. We can express our patriotism with Tricolor makeup and nail art, and also, we can remember Indian beauty secrets such as Oil Champi, Ubtan, Amla, Shikakai, Reetha, and so on.
  4. We can watch and enjoy patriotic Bollywood films like Rang De Basanti, Lakshya, URI, Shershaah, Gunjan Saxena (The Kargil Girl), and so on.
  5. We may express our love for India through art. We can make tricolor quilling cards, Mandala art, and portraits of famous freedom fighters, and so on.

Independence Day is special in its own way, like when we all come together to celebrate our country, regardless of any religion, caste, color, or gender. We have all become ONE. So, what are you waiting for? Come join us in celebrating 'INDEPENDENCE DAY' and show your love for the country.

Jai Hind.
