HARYANA MARTYRDOM DAY: HONORING TULARAM RAO, A FREEDOM FIGHTER OF THE 1857 REVOLUTION

  Haryana residents, particularly families and children, embrace the fact that today is a holiday. They have a long weekend with Saturday, Sunday, and Monday off, so it's time to rest. The closure of Haryana's schools today remains a mystery to many. Every year on September 23, the state of Haryana declares Shaheedi Diwas, also known as martyrdom day, as a public holiday to honour TULA RAM RAO, a freedom fighter who fought in the First War of Independence in 1857. Tularam was one of the main organizers of the rebellion against British power in northern India. Today is his death anniversary, September 23, 1863. This day was commemorated by the state at the Gurgaon war memorial. Major Dhyan Chand, the Hockey Wizard - the pride of India and an eternal hero of Jhansi

The first name that often comes to us when we hear about Jhansi's smart city is VEERANGANA RANI LAXMI BAI. Indeed, a magnificent warrior who embodies the epitome of courage and bravery. She put in far too much effort to fight the British for India's independence. One of a renowned 1956 Padma Bhushan receiver is also from Jhansi. Major Dhyan Chand, the hockey wizard, settled in Jhansi after six years of schooling in Allahabad, following his father's several army deployments. He practised hockey at Hero's Ground, Sipri Bazar Jhansi. Hero's Ground, which was previously rocky and uneven, has been redeveloped by CM Yogi as a tribute to Major Dhyan. It now has a synthetic track, boundary walls, grass, lights, and three gates for player entry, and more to visit.
